What the weather here is
An ice sheet two miles thick with a rim of habitable rock, and the ice does the forecasting. Cold air pools on the dome and drains off it as the piteraq — a katabatic wind that has hit 90 m/s at Tasiilaq and is the reason the east coast settlements are built the way they are. The west coast is milder, ice-free later, and where almost everyone lives; the far north is polar desert that sees less annual precipitation than Phoenix.
