What the weather here is

A continental divide 60 km from either ocean, and a climate that changes completely across it. The Caribbean slope has no dry season worth the name; the Pacific side has a sharp one, December to April. Between them the Monteverde cloud forest lives on horizontal precipitation — moisture combed out of trade-wind cloud by the vegetation itself, which no rain gauge catches.

Where the official forecast is

This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Costa Rica comes from Instituto Meteorológico Nacional. During a tropical cyclone the advisory that everything else follows is the National Hurricane Center's.

What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
