What the weather here is
Georgetown sits below high-tide level and is kept dry by a sea wall and a drainage system inherited from the Dutch, which makes intense rainfall an infrastructure problem before it is a weather one — the 2005 floods put much of the coastal plain under water for weeks. Two wet seasons a year on the coast, one in the interior, and the Kaieteur escarpment behind it all.
Where the official forecast is
This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Guyana comes from Guyana Hydrometeorological Service. During a tropical cyclone the advisory that everything else follows is the National Hurricane Center's.
What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
