What the weather here is
The Catatumbo lightning over Lake Maracaibo fires on around 300 nights a year, up to 28 strikes a minute — the most persistent thunderstorm on the planet, made by mountain air draining onto a warm lake every night. Beyond it the country runs Andean in the west, llanos through the middle with a flood season and a drought season, and tepui highlands in the southeast where Angel Falls drops a kilometre through its own cloud.
Where the official forecast is
This site is not a warning service. The official forecast and every watch and warning for Venezuela comes from INAMEH. During a tropical cyclone the advisory that everything else follows is the National Hurricane Center's.
What is on this page is the raw observation — the METAR itself, from the aerodrome named above it — with nothing added and nothing forecast.
